Struggling with Bulimia?
Psychodynamic therapy can help.

Understand how you got here and how to make sustainable change. Trying to do it alone is part of the problem. Take the first step toward healing your relationship with food, your body and yourself, in a safe, supportive environment.

Bulimia is about so much more than food itself — it’s a solution to much deeper problems that exist outside of conscious awareness. Bulimia often has roots in feelings that are too big to comprehend, unmet needs, perfectionism, and bodily or relational trauma. You might feel very alone with behaviors that elicit shame or perhaps you feel stuck in patterns that seem impossible to break. Psychodynamic therapy can help you understand the many feelings and factors driving your behaviors and gently support you toward change — without shame or judgment.

How Psychodynamic Therapy for Bulimia Can Help

  • Understand how Bulimia emerged as a solution to a deeper set of problems
  • Cultivate a relationship with your body that is about connection, intuition and meeting needs
  • Develop more adaptive coping strategies
  • Improve self-worth and emotional regulation
  • Help you discover a stronger sense of self and identity
  • Heal in a safe, non-judgmental space

I'm so glad you're here!

I’m Stefanie, human first, psychologist second. Personal experience and working with clients who were stuck left me puzzled by therapy’s tendency to focus only on the mind, essentially neglecting the rest of the body. It was only when I began to think of the body as a subject, with a mind and story of its own, that I began to notice profound changes in my work with many clients. No one teaches us that the body speaks and it is our job to listen. Listening to the body is a skill that requires mindful attention, mutual respect and compassion. In therapy with me, you will learn the tools to develop a relationship with your body, rather than attempting to control it, neglect it, or try to make it disappear.
